GOVERNMENT

To all those who have been sending me those supposedly-scary emails, videos and other creative bullshit about BIG, BAD GOVERNMENT coming to take away my (non-existent) fortune (the same "fortune" that nice, friendly corporate pirates have been quietly sucking away) through **shudder** TAXES, here's my take on it:

* I do want the government to do more than just wage endless foreign wars;
* ... such as ensuring basic needs for its citizens;
* Health, Education, Safety, Clean Water and Clean Air are pretty high up there on the list for me.
* I am willing to pay taxes to the government to secure these rights. (YES, they ARE rights for me, much more so than being able to carry a rocket-propelled grenade into the neighborhood school).
* What's more, I'm quite comfortable with the government taxing YOU too to secure these rights for us all.
* Of course, I recognize your right to disagree with my priorities, but I think most of us are with me on this.

If that's "socialism", so be it! Whatever!
